We welcome reference questions in person, mail, and phone, but it is best to send us a detailed email inquiry. Please contact us to set up an appointment to use our collections at firstname.lastname@example.org. Researchers may access our holdings in the Tulane University Special Collections reading room on the 2nd floor of Jones Hall, 6801 Freret Street, New Orleans, LA 70118.
The more details you provide in your inquiry, the better we will be able to assist you. Most buididng plans in our holdings are organized by street address or building name, but knowing the architect/firm, approximate construction date, building type, client name, and any other information you can give us will help to determine if we have anything to assist in your research.
Please note that there is a difference between reference and research. We cannot do research for patrons. Research, writing, and publishing are all part of the larger research process. We will do everything we can to direct you to useful resources within our holdings, or suggest other institutions, but we cannot choose, select, read, translate, or interpret our holdings for you. Special Collections are stored in a closed stacks, and browsing of collections is not permitted.
